Daylighting

Sunlight streams in across your ceiling, illuminating the space. But, there's no glare, no light in your eyes. And, the temperature is comfortable. How is that possible? With top down shades, of course! Lowered from the top, the valuable bright sunshine enters, lighting up the room as it travels in across the top of the space. The rest of the room gains the benefits of covered windows.

Privacy

Street-level windows, upstairs windows...they both should be capable of delivering privacy when you need it. The trouble is–you don't want to feel in the dark just because you'd prefer privacy. With top down shades, you can invite beautiful natural light and sky/treetop views–all while privacy is the top priority. Feel productive & gain energy with sunshine and views, but enjoy your privacy, too.

Custom Adjustments

A little down from the top, a little up from the bottom–that just might be the perfect way to position your shades to keep the glare off of your screens and out of your eyes. Maybe the sunlight coming in gives you plenty of light, but Fluffy likes to see just out the very bottom of the window. Every scenario seems successful with top down shades. They put the custom in custom adjustments. See more with recent work as you view our window shade designs.

What are top down bottom up shades?

Top down bottom up shades allow the top of the window shade to lower down, while the bottom of the window shade can also raise up. When only the top is lowered, they are considered ideal for rooms where privacy is essential, but you also want light entering. Great for bedrooms, bathrooms and windows that face the street.

Which window treatments offer the top down bottom up feature?

Top down bottom up is only offered on select window coverings. This feature us available on Hunter Douglas roman shades, cellular shades and woven shades.

Are top down bottom up shades good for privacy and light control?

Yes—balancing privacy and lighting is what they do best. Lower the shades from the top to invite daylight and sky views into your home, while the bottom stays covered for privacy and energy efficiency.

Can I get cordless or motorized top down bottom up shades?

Yes. Top down is available with cordless lift and retractable cord operation. Top down is also available with motorized blinds, allowing you control with a remote or app on your phone. Motorization can also integrate with your smart home system.

Do top down bottom up shades improve energy efficiency?

Yes, by lowering the top of the shades to let light in,  but keeping the majority of the window covered, you are stopping sunlight at the window from heating up your interiors. Honeycomb shades with top down also insulate the windows to regulate interior temperatures.
